Yesterday, we had the privilege of joining the Kachere Older Persons Association (OPA) as they celebrated 11 remarkable years of existence. This marks more than just time—it represents over a decade of growth, and the commitment of older persons in the Kachere community to supporting each other.
The event was filled with beautiful smiles, reflection, and forward-looking aspirations. OPA Members shared heartfelt stories about their journey, highlighting the strength they’ve found in unity. From supporting one another in times of need to supporting community initiatives that improve livelihoods at Kachere
We had the opportunity to engage with members and discuss their growth over the years.
“Being part of this association has given me hope and a sense of purpose. We’ve grown together as a family, supporting each other through challenges and celebrating our achievements.” Said Malita, 67.
Kachere OPA stems from its dedication to inclusivity, empowerment, and community-driven action. Looking ahead, the association expressed its eagerness to continue learning and growing, with plans to explore new opportunities for training and advocacy for older persons’ rights.
Maida, 74, proudly said “The Kachere OPA is more than an association—it’s a movement that shows the value of older persons in shaping a better future for all of us.”
Congratulations to the Kachere OPA for this incredible milestone. What a beautiful journey! Here’s to many more years of growth, learning, and positive impact!
