MANEPO has learnt, with great concern, regarding the situation of Mr. Binwell Chabwera, 89, who is currently seeking refuge at Zalewa Police Roadblock in Neno district. MANEPO wishes to strongly commend the Malawi Police Service in Neno for their swift response in a bid to protect the life of Mr Binwell Chabwera.
In the interim and as a short-term measure, MANEPO has provided the following to Mr Binwell Chabwera: blanket (1), maize flour (10 kgs), sugar (3 packets), salt (1kg), a tin of milk, bread (3 loaves), beans (5kgs), flask (1), plates (2) cups (2) and 2 t-shirts.
MANEPO wishes to inform the public that our team has been deployed to Zalewa Police Roadblock in Neno this morning to conduct an assessment of the situation to ensure that the packaging of any support to him appropriately responds to his needs and wants and in a manner that safeguards his dignity.
We would like to assure the public that MANEPO will make every effort towards ensuring that Mr. Binwell Chabwera returns home and that his wellbeing, safety, and dignity are safeguarded and guaranteed.
