Malawi Network of Older Persons Organizations (Manepo) has expressed worry over continued attacks on the elderly in Zomba and has since described the behaviour as retrogressive.
Manepo's Country Director, Andrew Kavala voiced out the concern on Saturday at Machilika Ground in Traditional Authority Nkagula in the district during the organization’s awareness campaign on Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH), health seeking behaviours and rights of the older persons aged 50 and above.
Kavala hinted that the campaign was aimed at sensitizing the public on the need for the elderly to access healthcare services without violating their rights to healthcare..

District Director of Health and Social Services who was also the guest of honour, Dr. Alexander Chijuwa urged the elderly to eat nutritious and balanced foods so that they are not prone to various nutritional deficiency diseases.

Manepo is holding awareness campaigns in various districts to ensure that intergenerational households are well equipped with relevant information on SRH and that older persons should develop a health-seeking behavior.
